This year, organizers hope to challenge the community to focus on action with the “Be the change.Live the dream!” board. The festival coincides with the 17th annual Day of Dialogue event sponsored by the City of Tallahassee and will include a talk show forum presented by Robbie Stokes who was previously featured at the recent Mayor’s Summit.įor last year’s theme, attendees wrote and shared their dreams with the community on a public display, the “What’s your dream?” board. King embraced non-violent resistance for social change and committed his life to bring about his dream of racial justice and equality. Mahatma Ghandi once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” As a contemporary of Ghandi, Dr. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chair and enjoy. The event will also showcase a variety of specialty item and food vendors in the “Vendor Village.” The free event is open to the public and all ages are invited. This year’s special musical guest at the “Soundstage” is five-time Grammy-nominated musician and Tallahassee native, Ashanti Floyd, “the Mad Violinist.” The festival will also feature live music, vendors, dancing, historical exhibits and a “MLK Birthday Bash” for kids, complete with bounce houses, games and face painting. and is co-sponsored by the City of Tallahassee, Cumulus Broadcasting, Community Redevelopment Agency and the Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority.
